Women’s Ice Hockey Drops Game Two Against #1 Wisconsin

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO. – On Friday afternoon, the Lindenwood women's ice hockey team (2-2-0) faced-off against the number one ranked team in the country, the University of Wisconsin Badgers, for game two of the two-game series. With a frenzy of goals by the Badgers in the second and third period, the Lions would fall 16-1.

GAME OVERVIEW
In the first period, The Badgers would remain quiet for the first seven minutes of the period. With less than 12 minutes left in the period, the Badgers would get on the board. Two minutes later, the Badgers would score once again to extend their lead to two. With two minutes left in the period, the Badgers would score off the power-play, leading 3-0 going into the second period.

In the second period, The Badgers would find their stride, scoring five consecutive goals. The Lions would break the Badgers scoring streak with one of their own. With nine and half minutes left to go in the period, Sarah Davies would score off a wrist-shot assisted by Emma Hoen. The Lions would trail 8-1 up to this point. The Badgers would tally once more in the period to bring their lead back to eight. The Lions would trail 9-1 going into the third period.

In the third period, the Badgers would find the back of the net seven times.

Emily Finach started in net for the Lions making 18 saves. Natalie Ferenc would relieve Finach in the second period and would make 19 stops.

The Lions will return to the ice on October 6 at 6:00 p.m., taking on the St. Thomas Tommie's on the road in St. Paul, Minn.
