MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO. – On Monday afternoon, The Lindenwood field hockey team (0-2) took on the Saint Louis University Billikens (1-3). The Lions would 2-1 to the Billikens in overtime.
OVERVIEW
In the first period, the Lions were able to strike first coming from a
Riley Enget shot assisted by
Mia Simpson. The Lions would keep the Billikens scoreless in the first period, leading 1-0 going into the second frame. In the second quarter, both teams were scoreless due to strong defensive play. At half,
Kyla Cooke had four saves and zero goals against. The Lions would lead 1-0 going into the second half.
In the third period, the Billikens would break their scoring drought from an assisted goal coming off a penalty corner, to tie the game 1-1. The game would remain tied for the rest of the game, sending the Lions into overtime. The Lions would let a late goal in overtime to fall to the Billikens 2-1.
Cooke started in net for the Lions, making eight saves on two goals against.
