MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO. – On Friday afternoon, the Lindenwood field hockey team took on Colgate University at SportPort International, in Maryland Heights, Mo. The Lions would fall to the Raiders 2-1.
MATCH OVERVIEW
In the first period, both teams were held scoreless. During the first frame the Raiders would give up one shot, and the Lions would give up five shots. The lone shot for the Lions in the first period came from
Hailey Bainer. In the second period, the Raiders would score an assisted goal in the 21
st minute of the game to put the Raiders up 1-0. Strong defense for the remainder of the half from the Raiders kept the Lions scoreless. The Raiders would lead 1-0 going into the second half of the match.
In the second half, the Lions would get on the scoreboard. In the 36
th minute,
Orla Folan would put one in the back of the net, coming from a
Heidi van Dyk pass, to tie the game up at 1-1. Not more than a minute later, the Raiders would strike back with one of their own. In the 37
th minute, the Raiders would notch one in the net, to take the 2-1 lead. In the fourth frame both teams were held scoreless.
Kyla Cooke started in net for the Lions, making six saves on two goals against.
