The Lindenwood women's basketball team (2-12, 0-3 OVC) fell on the road to SEMO (5-10, 2-2 OVC) by a score of 80-63 on Thursday night in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
GAME OVERVIEW
The Lions held the Redhawks scoreless for the first three minutes of the game which helped them get out to an early 6-2 lead. After a
Mary McGrath three, Lindenwood led 9-8 at the first media. SEMO then went on a 10-0 burst to take a 18-9 lead. Lindenwood got back within six after
Mykayla Cunningham knocked down a three but would trail 18-12 after one.
The Redhawks maintained a comfortable lead throughout the second quarter, leading by as many as 1.
Alyssa Nielsen did her best to keep Lindenwood in it, scoring eight points in the middle frame on a perfect 4-for-4 shooting. However, the home team took their largest lead into the locker room at 40-27.
SEMO extended its lead in the third quarter, outscoring the Lions 22-14.
Ellie Brueggemann paced Lindenwood with five points in the frame and the black and gold trailed 62-41 after three. The Lions kept battling in the fourth and near the halfway point of the quarter went on a 7-0 run to cut the deficit to 72-61. Kayle Evans had a strong quarter, finishing with eight points. The Redhawks settled down and were able to close out the game and win 80-63.
