The Lindenwood men's volleyball team (0-2, 0-0 MIVA) lost in three sets to No. 6 Grand Canyon (5-0, 0-0 MPSF) on Sunday afternoon in Phoenix, Ariz.
MATCH OVERVIEW
The first set was a back and forth one. With Lindenwood up 10-8, the Lopes answered with the next four points to go up 12-10. The Lions responded with the next three points, capped off by a
Kadin Warner service ace to regain the lead. Neither team led by more than two in the set until the Lopes went up 20-17. The home team was able to hold onto the lead and take the first set 25-20.
Clay Wieter led the Lions with five kills and a pair of service aces, while hitting .571.
The second started with a pair of aces from
A.J. Lewis, which allowed Lindenwood to create momentum and hold an early 10-6 lead. After the media timeout with the Lions leading 15-11, the Lopes responded with the next six points to take a 17-15 lead. The Lopes were able to maintain the separation and win the second set 25-19 and take a 2-0 lead in the match.
GCU was able to keep its momentum headed into the third and lead 15-8 at the media timeout. The Lopes closed out the third set 25-13, and the match 3-0.
