Women’s Ice Hockey Falls to Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. – On Friday afternoon, the Lindenwood women's ice hockey team took on Penn State University. Lindenwood would drop their first matchup of the weekend against the Nittany Lions by a score of 10-1.

GAME OVERVIEW
Penn State would score fourteen seconds into the game to go up 1-0 early. Nine minutes later, Penn State would find the back of the net for the second time of the net. Lindenwood would be held scoreless in the period, trailing 2-0, going into the second frame. The Lions would have eight shots on net in the period.

In the second period, Penn State would score four consecutive goals, to extend their lead to six. Lindenwood's scoreless drought would continue in this period, having three shot attempts on net, while Penn State had 15. The Lions would trail 6-0 going into the final period.

In the third period, Penn State would start off the scoring, putting one in the back of the net twenty-five seconds into the period, extending their lead to seven. With 14:36 left in the period, Sarah Davies would snap the Lions scoreless drought, closing the Lions deficit with Penn State to six. Morgan Neitzke and Thea Jørgensen would be attributed assists on Davies' goal. Penn State would rattle three more goals in the remainder of the final period, to extend their lead to nine.

After this matchup, the Lions moved to 10-14-1 overall, and 5-7-1 in the CHA.
