Lindenwood Gymnastics Finishes Second At Mizzou Invitational

Lions finished with a team score of 194.000

COLUMBIA, MO. - The Lindenwood gymnastics team (2-1) finished their opening meet of the season with a second place finish at the Mizzou Invitational with a final team score of 194.000. It marked the highest team score in a season-opening meet in team history, beating last year's score of 193.125.

"The lions showed out tonight breaking their season opening record! We are excited to continue building off this meet for the rest of our legacy season," said assistant coach Sam Scherwinski.

LINDENWOOD'S TOP PERFORMERS INSIDE THE SCORES
  • Missouri transfer Reece Baechle made her Lindenwood debut back where she transferred from. Baechle put up a 9.700 in both the vault and bars during her first meet in a Lindenwood uniform.
  • Coming off a second-team MIC selection last season, Trinity Caffey posted a 9.800 on her vault routine which is her second best of her career. She also earned a 9.775 during her floor routine.
  • Nya Kraus (38.725) and Hannah Appleget (38.300) were the only two Lindenwood gymnasts to post final all-around performances. Kraus' 9.825 score on the beam was the fifth best finish of the night.  Her bar routine also was sixth overall (9.775).
  • Jaly Jones had an impressive opening night finishing in sixth in bars (9.775) and fifth on her floor routine (9.850).
  • Gayla Griswold had the highest performance of any Lindenwood gymnast after posting a third place score during her floor routine with a 9.875. Her career best on the floor is just above that score of a 9.900.
  • Lindenwood's best event of the evening was the floor at a team score of 48.900 followed by bars (48.625), beam (48.525), and vault (47.950).
