GAME OVERVIEW
After opening the game with a stop, the Lindenwood offense got rolling behind
Steve Hall, but had to settle for a 34-yard field goal by Logan Siebert to go up 3-0 with 11:21 remaining in the opening quarter. On the ensuing CSU drive,
Jaylan Wesley picked off a pass that set the Lions up with good field position.
Cortezz Jones eventually found the end zone, putting the Black and Gold up 10-0, halfway through the frame.
Charleston Southern's offense settled down using the run game and had 1
st and goal at the Lindenwood seven-yard line. The Lions defense stood tall and came up with a big stop as
Jonah Rubadue and
Donnie Wingate stuffed the quarterback run on fourth down. The Lions would be up 10-0 after one.
Seibert converted another field goal halfway through the second quarter, extending the lead to 13-0. A few minutes later, Lindenwood used the legs of Jones once again to go ahead 20-0 after his second score of the day. The Buccaneers would storm back behind their defense, however as a pick-6 and a fumble return for a touchdown before the half would cut the Lindenwood lead to 20-14 at the break.
The two defensive units continued to trade stops to begin the third quarter, which included an interception by
Jayden Patrick at the 8:43 mark. The Lions turned that into points as Seibert nailed a 37-yard field goal, putting Lindenwood up 23-14 with just over four minutes to go in the quarter. That would be the score heading to the fourth.
In the fourth quarter, Lindenwood controlled the clock, having the ball for over 13 minutes in the final frame. Siebert would go on to convert his fourth and fifth field goals of the day, which set a new program record for made field goals in a game with five. The Lions would go onto win 29-14. Lindenwood outgained the Buccaneers 392-197, while having the ball for over 20 more minutes. The defense forced three turnovers on the day.

QUOTABLE
"Barring two back to back crazy plays at the end of the first half, I thought our guys played a really good football game," said head coach
Jed Stugart. "We obviously need to stress, taking care of the football, but was really pleased with our resiliency coming out of half to take the momentum back with a quick takeaway by our D. That says a lot about our team. Our defense shut them out and gave us that momentum to pull out a great win against a good football team"
