Â
Last Saturday, the Lions picked up a 29-14 win over Charleston Southern at home. Lindenwood controlled the game on the ground, rushing for 240 yards, the teams second-highest total of the season. As a result, the Black and Gold had the ball for 40:25, over 20 minutes more than the Buccaneers.
Cortezz Jones found the end zone twice in the victory. The Lions have rushed for 170 or more yards in the last four games and average 163.7 yards per game on the ground this season, second most in the Big South-OVC.
Â
The other scores all came off the foot of
Logan Seibert who made five field goals in the win, which set a new program record for most in a single game. That number is also tied for the most made in the FCS this season. In the process, the Belleville, Ill. native set a new career program record with 41.
Â
It was a complete effort last Saturday as the defense held the Buccaneers to a total of 157 yards and eight first downs, which was a season low for the unit. The Lions also forced a season-high four turnovers, coming from two fumbles and two interceptions by
Jaylan Wesley and
Jayden Patrick. Patrick tops the team with a pair of picks on the year. In 2024, Lindenwood has seven forced fumbles on the year, ranking second in the Association, while the six interceptions rank third.
Â
This will be the first meeting between the Runnin' Bulldogs and the Lions. Gardner-Webb enters the matchup 1-5 and will be looking for its first conference win of the season. Three of GWU's losses have been by one score or less.
Â
With the win last week, Lindenwood moved to 2-1 in league play and is tied with three teams for third place in the Association.
