Women's Volleyball Loses 3-0 At Morehead State

Lions heled to 25 kills, their lowest of the season

MOREHEAD, Ky. - Lindenwood women's volleyball (16-8, 10-2 OVC) dropped only their second Ohio Valley Conference match of the season after being swept 3-0 by Morehead State (10-12, 6-5 OVC) on Thursday. This loss snapped a seven match win streak by the Lions.

Morehead State limited the Lions to just 25 kills on the afternoon, their lowest mark of the season. The team also hit .036 which also marked their lowest of the season and just the second time they were limited to below a .100 hitting percentage (Dartmouth - .080).

Autumn Bax led the offense with six kills while hitting .053. Lindenwood's leading attacker Nyah Wilson was kept in check posting only four kills (second lowest this season) with a season-high eight attack errors while hitting -.138. Faith Atkins hit .231 to lead the team while posting three kills.

Allie Otten was able to keep her double-digit assists streak alive with 14 assists while securing her 16th double-double of the season after registering 10 digs. Defensively, Lindenwood had 48 digs with Dana Grib collecting 12 in her first career start at libero.

Lindenwood dropped the first set by a score of 19-25 after Morehead State took a big lead to start the set. LU cut the lead to two at 21-19 but the Eagles closed out the set scoring four unanswered points. LU was held to a .029 hitting percentage in set one.

The Lions continued to find ways to score in set two, but Morehead State took advantage of attack errors winning the set 21-25. Lindenwood had their best set of the afternoon during the second with 11 kills while hitting .146. Wilson had three kills while Otten added seven assists.

Morehead State was able to close out the third set winning 25-11, the lowest point total for Lindenwood this season in a set. As a team in the third, LU hit -.086 while being held to five kills. It marked only the second time this season Lindenwood had been swept, the first in OVC play.
