Men’s Ice Hockey Falls 5-2 to #14 Ohio State

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO. – On Friday night, men's ice hockey (2-7-1) took on (7-2-1) #14 Ohio State. The Lions would fall 5-2 to the nationally ranked Buckeyes, moving to 2-8-1 on the campaign.
 
GAME OVERVIEW
In the first period, both teams would be held off the scoring column, resulting in a 0-0 tie after a period of play. In the first period, Lindenwood had four shots on net. Owen Bartoszkiewicz would make 11 saves in the frame.

In the second period, Jake Southgate would give the Lions the one-goal lead, scoring off a wrist-shot, past the goaltender's blocker side at 4:12 into the frame. Southgate's goal would be assisted by Alexander Lundman and Kristof Papp. Lindenwood's 1-0 lead would be short-lived, with the Buckeyes scoring their first goal of the contest at 6:21. Almost two minutes later, Ohio State would find their first lead of the night. Ohio State would finish out the period, scoring two more goals, resulting in the Lions trailing 4-1 going into the final period of play. The Lions would have eight shots on net in the period. Bartoszkiewicz would make seven saves in the frame.

In the third period, David Gagnon would cut into the Buckeyes three-goal lead, scoring on a one-timer while on the power-play at 5:18 into the frame. Ohio State would score the final goal of the game, even-strength at 9:54. In the final period of play, Lindenwood would have 13 shots on net, for a total of 25 on the night. Bartoszkiewicz would make five saves in the frame, for a total of 23 stops on the night.
