Lindenwood Completes Five-Set Comeback At Little Rock

The Lions clinch at least the #2 seed at the OVC Championships next week

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Lindenwood women's volleyball (19-10, 13-4 OVC) clinched at least the #2 at the Ohio Valley Conference tournament with a five-set win over Little Rock (16-14, 11-6 OVC) on Tuesday. The Lions can still clinch a least a share of the OVC with a win tomorrow over LR and a SEMO loss.

Four Lions cracked double-digit kills as Lindenwood posted 63 total kills for the match. Rebecca Janke led the way with a team-high 16 kills on a .342 hitting percentage. Nyah Wilson added 15 kills and 21 digs for her 12th double-double of the season. As a team, LU hit .176 thanks to setter Allie Otten who had 53 assists which marked her fourth straight match with at least 50 assists. Otten also added three aces to lead the team.

Ashley Geluck continues her double-digit kills streak with 13 tonight on 33 attempts (.273 HP%). She also led the team with seven total blocks including six block assists. Lindenwood tied their season-best with 11.0 total blocks tonight. Autumn Bax (11 kills) posted her 290th kill this season which ties the LU Freshman record for kills in a season set by Bailey Dvoark in 2015.

Jessie Seidel led a defense that had 102 digs which marked the team's season best. Seidel added 26 digs on Tuesday to lead the team. Otten also chipped in 16 for another double-double while defensive specialists Dana Grib (13) and Izzy Herrbold (10) added double figure digs.

The first set was controlled by the Trojans as they took a 1-0 set lead with a score of 25-19. Lindenwood's offense was held to .103 hitting percentage with 11 kills. Janke had a team best three kills in set one while Seidel added seven digs. LR hit .275 with 15 kills in set one.

Lindenwood responded in the second with a 26-24 set victory to tie the match at 1-1. The Lions had a match-high 17 kills while hitting .292. Janke continued to punish the Trojan's defense with six kills while Wilson added four. LR made a run late in the set to tie it at 24 all but LU pulled away with a kill from Bax and Janke.

After Little Rock took the lead in the third (25-18), Lindenwood came right back in the fourth with a tightly contested 25-21 set win. Condon's squad had a different lineup for the final two sets including Emma Johnson who recorded a kill in the fourth. Wilson had four kills and four digs in the fourth while LU's defense had three blocks.

Lindenwood was victorious in the fifth set after starting the set on a 5-2 run. The Lions had help on offense scoring eight of their points off of kills in the fifth. Wilson and Janke both had three kills in the fifth and Herrbold collected three digs and an ace.

The Lions will wrap up the OVC regular season on Wednesday, Nov. 20th at Little Rock starting at 6:00 p.m. CT. The final seedings will be revealed tomorrow after all OVC matches are concluded. For more information go to lindenwoodlions.com.
