MOON TOWNSHIP, PA. – On Saturday night, men's ice hockey (2-5-0) took on Robert Morris (3-1-1) in game two of two against the Colonials. The Lions would tie the Colonials 2-2, moving to 2-5-1 on the season.
GAME OVERVIEW
In period one, Lindenwood found the only tally in the period at 16:15.
Brody Mortensen would deflect a shot into the back of the net, for his first career goal as a Lion, putting the Lions up one. Mortensen's goal would be assisted by
Thomas Jarman and
Tyler Loughman. After a period of play, Lindenwood would lead 1-0. Lindenwood would have 16 shots on net in the first period.
Alexandros Aslanidis tallied four saves in the period.
The Lions would start off the second period strong, scoring at 4:02 into the frame.
Jack Anderson would be attributed the goal off a slap shot from the point. Anderson's goal would come while on the power-play and would be assisted by Jarman and
Kristof Papp. Four minutes later, Robert Morris would find their first goal of the night while even-strength, cutting the Lions lead to one. After two periods of play, Lindenwood led the Colonials 2-1. Lindenwood in the period had 13 shots on net. Aslanidis in period two would make seven stops.
In the third period, Robert Morris would tally the only goal of the period at 11:06 while on the power-play, forcing an overtime to be played. In the period, Lindenwood had eight shots on net and Aslanidis would stop four pucks.
In overtime, both teams could not find the back of the net, with the game resulting in a 2-2 tie. Lindenwood in the extra period had two shots on net for a total 39 shots on net. Aslanidis in overtime made four stops, adding to his total of 19 stops on the night, for a .905 save percentage.
