MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO. – On Saturday, women's ice hockey (2-12-1, 1-4-0 AHA) took on Syracuse (5-12-0, 3-2-0 AHA) for the second time this weekend. The Lions would come out on top, winning 4-1 over the Orange, with the Lions improving to 3-12-1 on the season and 2-4-0 in conference play.
GAME OVERVIEW
In the first period, Syracuse would find the back of the net first, at 1:05 into the period, while on the power-play. At 6:50, Lindenwood would tie the game up from a
Morgan Neitzke goal. Neitzke's goal would be unassisted. Almost six minutes later at 12:34 into the period,
Maegan Cronan would score her second goal of the season, to put the Lions up 2-1. Cronan's goal would be assisted by
Sidney Jackel. Lindenwood would score one more final goal in the period, extending their lead to two. Lindenwood's third goal on the afternoon would come from
Olivia Grabianowski tipping in a shot from the point. Grabianowski's goal would be assisted by
Quinn McLaren and
Zsofia Pazmandi. After a period of play, Lindenwood would lead 3-1. In the frame, Lindenwood had 15 shots on net.
Madison Bowtell in period one would make ten saves.
In period two, both teams were held off the scoresheet, resulting in the Lions leading 3-1 going into the final period of play. In the frame, the Lions had 11 shots on net, and Bowtell would 13 stops.
In the third period much like the second period, scoring was hard to come by, which was brought out by strong performances by both goaltenders. Lindenwood would score once more before the end of the game, scoring an empty netter with 2.8 seconds left in the contest.
Zsofia Pazmandi would be attributed Lindenwood's fourth goal, assisted by
Molly Henderson. In the final period of play, Lindenwood had nine shots on net, for a total of 35 on the afternoon. Bowtell would make nine stops in the final frame, for a total of 32 on the game.
