Women’s Ice Hockey Falls 6-2 to Mercyhurst

ERIE, PA. – On Saturday, the Lindenwood women's ice hockey team took on Mercyhurst in their second game of the weekend. The Lions would fall to the Lakers by a score of 6-2.

GAME OVERVIEW
In the first period, the Lakers were able to find the back of the net first, scoring at the 6:56 mark in the frame. Both teams would remain quiet for majority of the period, until Mercyhurst would score their second goal of the game at the 18:41 mark, to lead 2-0. Both teams would be held off the scoring column for the last 1:19 of the period.

In the second period, the Lions would start off strong, scoring the first goal in the period, off the power-play at the 6:09 mark in the period. The Lions goal would be scored by Gigi Pora, assisted by Sarah Davies and Morgan Neitzke. At this point, the Lions would trail 2-1 to the Lakers. The Lakers would retaliate at the 16:34 mark, to regain the two-goal lead. At the end of the second period, the Lions would trail 3-1.

In the third period, the Lions would score right out the gate, just one minute into the period. Quinn McLaren would be the goal-scorer for the Lions, assisted by Morgan Neitzke and Gigi Pora, cutting the Lions deficit with the Lakers to one. The Lakers would score three straight goals to end the game with one of them coming while the net was empty.

The Lions in this affair had 20 shots on net while the Lakers had 31. Natalie Ferenc and Ava McIllmurray both spent time in the net for the Lions, making a combined 25 saves.

The Lions moved to 11-17-2 on the year, and 6-10-2 after this matchup.
