ST. CHARLES, Mo. - It was announced on Wednesday that
Reese Baechle from Lindenwood gymnastics won the Midwest Independent Conference Co-Newcomer of the Week award after her performance last weekend against Illinois State.
Baechle, a sophomore transfer from Missouri, helped the Lions defeat MIC opponent Illinois State last weekend by a final score of 196.075-195.250. The St. Charles, Mo. native competed in two events for the Lions.
On Sunday, Baechle tied her personal best at Lindenwood with a score of 9.825 on vault where she tied for second and helped the Lions post a 49.150 team score, their second best of the season. She also competed on floor posting a score of 9.800.
This award marks the fourth time the Lions have earned an MIC Weekly award along with
Leah Parton's MIC Coaches Choice Award last week,
Gayla Griswold (Performance of the Week - 1/31) and
Nya Kraus (Gymnast of the Week - 1/17).
Baechle and the rest of the Lions will gear up for their biggest meet of the season on Friday, February 16 as they participate in the GQ Meet hosted at Family Arena. Lindenwood will take on Missouri, Florida and Illinois starting at 6:00 p.m. CT. For more information go to lindenwoodlions.com.
