RADFORD, VA. – On Wednesday afternoon, the Lindenwood women's lacrosse team took on Radford in their second game of the season. The Lions would cruise past the Highlanders by a score of 18-5, after scoring eight goals in the first quarter.
GAME OVERVIEW
In the first quarter, the Lions would come out firing. The Lions would tally their first goal of the game at 14:21, then would score seven straight goals to end the frame leaving the Radford Highlanders scoreless in the frame. After one period, the Lions would lead 8-0 over the Highlanders. Goal scorers for the Lions in the first quarter include:
Logann Eldredge,
Breylin Bright, and
Emily Mowbray.
In the second quarter, the Lions were able to strike first, coming off an Eldredge goal, assisted by
Kiley Davis at the 14:15 mark in the frame. The Highlanders were able to bounce back, scoring three straight goals to cut the Lions lead to six with 9:50 left in the first half. At 4:47,
Meredith Parry would get on the board for the Lions assisted by
Isabella Rulapaugh to regain the Lion's seven goal lead. The Lions would score twice more to end the period, leading 12-3 going into the second half. Eldredge and
Alissa Digiacinto would be attributed the last two goals in the frame, for the Lions.
In the third quarter, scoring would be stifled, with a total of four goals being scored in the frame. The Lions were able to get on the board first in the quarter, coming from an unassisted goal by Rulapaugh at the 14:29 mark. Four minutes later, the Highlanders would find the back of the net with 10:11 left in the frame, cutting the Lions lead to nine. The Lions would find the back of the twice more to end the quarter, leading 15-4 going into the fourth quarter. The final two goal scorers for the Lions in the frame, came from Bright and Davis.
In the fourth quarter, once again, the Lions would start the scoring off. With 13:31 left in the quarter, Eldredge would put the Lions up twelve. Six minutes later, the Highlanders would tally their fifth and final goal of the game. The Lions would score two more times before the end of the game, coming from McConnell and
Clara Gallapoo.
After this matchup, the Lions moved to 2-0 on the season.
Haylie Sims started in net for the Lions making seven saves on five goals against.
