Sims Stellar Performance in Net Helps Lead Lions to an Upset Victory over Louisville

ST. CHARLES, MO. – On Sunday afternoon, the Lindenwood women's lacrosse team took on the Louisville Cardinals. In an up and down game, the Lions would come out victorious, winning 12-9 over the Cardinals.

GAME OVERVIEW
In the first quarter, the Lions would come out firing on all cylinders. The Lions would score the first four goals of the game, with the first coming just a little over one minute into the game. With 2:05 left in the frame, the Cardinals would find their first goal of the game. With 20 seconds left in the quarter, Isabella Rulapaugh would score, to put the Lions back up by four goals. At the end of the frame, the Lions would lead 5-1. Scorers for the Lions in the frame include Alissa Digiacinto, Andie McConnell, Logann Eldredge, and Meredith Parry.

In the second quarter, the Cardinals would start off the frame scoring first, just one minute into the quarter. 4:55 later, the Lions would score their sixth goal of the game, coming from Kiley Davis. The Cardinals would score the last two goals of the frame, closing their deficit with the Lions to two. After one half, the Lions would lead 6-4.

In the third quarter, the Cardinals would score the first goal of the frame, coming 13:20 mark in the quarter. Less than two minutes later, the Lions would get on the board regaining the two-goal lead, coming from a Davis goal. The Lions would score the next three goals to end the quarter, leading 10-5. Scorers for the Lions in the quarter included Davis, Sara Grieco, and Digiacinto.

In the fourth quarter, the Cardinals would start off the period scoring the first three goals, closing the Cardinals deficit back to two. The Lions would bounce back, scoring a pair to bring their lead back to four. The Cardinals would score the final goal of the game at the 5:44 mark in the period.

After this matchup, the Lions moved to 3-0 on the season. Haylie Sims started in net for the Lions, making 12 saves.
