Men’s Lacrosse Falls 10-7 in Home Opener Against LIU

ST. CHARLES, MO. – On Saturday, the Lindenwood men's lacrosse team took on Long Island University (LIU) in their home opener. The Lions would fall 10-7.

GAME OVERVIEW
Starting off the first quarter, the Sharks were able to strike first, scoring 41 seconds into the frame. At 12:24 in the quarter, Flint Thielen was able to find the net for the Lions first goal of the day. A minute later, the Lions would find their first lead of the day, coming from an Ace Nichols shot assisted by Adrian Thompson. A minute later, the Sharks would tie the game up at 2-2. At 9:25, Thielen would score to put the Lions up one. Less than two minutes later, Shane Egen would extend the Lions lead to two. Noah Wehrman would score the final goal in the period at 7:09, to put the Lions up three going into the second quarter. After one quarter of play, the Lions would lead 5-2.

In the second quarter, the Sharks would find the scoring column first at 12:36, to cut the Lions lead to two. Adrian Thompson at 11:46, would find the back of the net, to regain the Lions three goal lead. The Sharks would net the final goal in the frame, ending the period with the Lions ahead 6-4.

In the third quarter, the Sharks would find their stride, scoring all five goals in the frame. After three quarters of play, the Sharks would lead 9-6.

In the fourth quarter, the Sharks would find pay dirt first, scoring at the 8:12 mark, extending the Sharks lead to four. Thompson would score the final goal of the game, closing their deficit with the Sharks to three.

After this matchup, Lindenwood moved to 0-2 on the season. AJ Preachuk appeared in net for the Lions making 12 saves.
