The Lindenwood men's volleyball team (5-8, 2-4 MIVA) lost to No. 12 Loyola Chicago (9-8, 4-3 MIVA) in four sets on Saturday night inside Hyland Arena
MATCH OVERVIEW
Loyola jumped out to a quick 5-1 lead, but after an
A.J. Lewis kill, Lindenwood was able to knot things up at 10 apiece. The Ramblers regained a comfortable advantage at 17-13, but the Lions went on a mini 3-0 run to pull within one. Loyola managed to hang on to a closely contested set at 25-23 and take a 1-0 lead in the match.
The Lions responded well in the second set with their best hitting stanza of the match at .405. With Lindenwood up 7-6,
Clay Wieter registered back-to-back aces to put the black and gold ahead by three, which forced a Loyola timeout. Lindenwood maintained a comfortable advantage in the set and after a Lewis kill, the score was 18-13. The Lions were able to close out the set at 25-20 and even the match 1-1.
The Ramblers jumped on Lindenwood in the third set, getting out to a commanding 15-6 lead. Loyola never looked back and closed out the set 25-14.
With the fourth set tied 5-5, Loyola went on a 4-1 run to gain some separation. The Ramblers kept the momentum and won the race to 15. At 23-14, Lindenwood went on a 3-0 run to put a little pressure on but the visitors closed out the match at 25-17.
