The Lindenwood women's basketball team (7-20, 5-12 OVC) fell to Southern Indiana (21-6, 16-1 OVC) on Thursday night by a score of 75-38.
GAME OVERVIEW
It was a slow start offensively for both teams with the game tied 3-3 at the 7:16 mark of the opening frame. The seesaw battle continued throughout the period with neither team leading by more than five points.
Ellie Brueggemann finished with a team-high five points in the first stanza, and the Lions trailed 17-13 after one.
The Screaming Eagles opened the second quarter on an 8-0 run to expand their lead. Lindenwood battled back and cut the deficit to 29-20 after a
Stevi Lockhart three at the 3:21 mark of the middle frame. However, USI finished the second quarter on a 10-0 run to take a 39-20 lead into halftime.
Lindenwood trailed 45-27 with 5:14 left in the third quarter. The Screaming Eagles maintained a comfortable advantage throughout the third quarter and led 55-29 heading to the fourth.
Southern Indiana went on to pick up the 75-38 victory. Lindenwood was led offensively by Mykayla Cunnningham who had nine points. The Lions will be back in action this Saturday at 12:00 p.m. CT when they take on Morehead State in the final game of the regular season.
