Women's Hockey Heads to Mercyhurst

THIS WEEK
Lindenwood will travel to Erie, Pa., to take on the Mercyhurst Lakers on Friday, February 9th and Saturday, February 10th. Friday's game will be played at 2:00 PM CST and Saturday's game will be played at 11:00 AM CST. All games will be played at Mercyhurst Ice Center.

LAST TIME OUT 
The Lions split a two-game series with Syracuse at home, tying the first matchup 7-7 and winning the second matchup over the Orange 5-4 in overtime. In the series, the Lions scored twelve goals in two games.
In the Lions last matchup of the weekend, Syracuse would take the early 1-0 lead, scoring at the 1:41 mark in the first period. The Lions would score the next three goals to end the first period leading 3-1.  
Syracuse would not shy away, scoring the first goal of the second period to close their deficit with the Lions to one. Thirty seconds later the Lions would regain their two-goal lead. 
In the third period, the Orange controlled the offensive zone, tallying two goals in the period, forcing the game to be finished in overtime. In overtime, Sarah Davies would score the game-winner for the Lions, which would be assisted by Emma Hoen and Morgan Neitzke.
After the final game of the weekend, three program records were broken. The Lions would break the program record for most wins in a season, and Neitzke would break the school record for most points in a season and career points.
Neitzke led the Lions in scoring over the weekend with five points, coming from two goals and three assists. 

MATCHUP PREVIEW
This will be the 51st time in program history the Lions will take on the Lakers. Historically, the Lions are 8-41-1 against Mercyhurst, and have lost their last six matchups to the Lakers. The Lions on the season are 11-15-2 and 6-8-2 in conference play, sitting in the number four spot in the CHA standings. Neitzke leads the Lions in points with 39, and goals with 23. Davies leads the Lions in assists with 17 and is sitting with the second most points on the team with 29. Natalie Ferenc has made 23 appearances in net for Lindenwood, making 628 saves on 88 goals against. 
Mercyhurst on the year is 14-15-1 and 10-5-1 in conference. The Lakers currently sit in second place in the CHA standings and have clinched a spot in the conference tournament. In their series, the Lakers were swept by Penn State on the road. Sarah Boucher leads the Lakers in all three scoring categories, with 33 points coming off from 15 goals and 18 assists. Vanessa Upson is second on the Lakers in points with 26. On the defensive side of the puck, Ena Nystrøm, has made 30 appearances for Mercyhurst, making 828 saves on 68 goals against.
