The Lindenwood Lions set the ice ablaze against Stonehill on Friday evening; skating to a 10-1 victory over the Skyhawks.
LU started scoring early and never eased up. At 2:52 in the opening twenty minutes,
Jake Southgate scored on an amazing display of teamwork, as
Jack Anderson and
Jaeden Mercier found him in scoring position. Under two minutes later,
Austin Fraser lodged the puck into the back of the net, with
Coltan Wilkie and
Drew Kuzma being credited with the assist. To wrap up the frame,
Mitch Allard scored at 19:25.8 on a pass from
Zach Aughe.
Up 3-0 entering the second, the Lions exploded with five goals. At 2:09,
Caige Sterzer and
Ethan Zielke maneuvered the puck to Anderson, who glided it into the net.
Kieran Ruscheinski scored at 10:58, Mercier and Southgate assisted. Zielke scored on a pass from Aughe at 13:09.
David Gagnon, with an assist from Mercier, scored at 14:51.
Patrick Schmiedlin and Ruscheinski were credited with the assist on
Caleb Price's 17:01 goal.
In the final twenty minutes, Stonehill scored their only goal of the contest. At 14:02, Aughe scored an unassisted goal and at 17:21, he scored a power play goal with Zielke on the assist.
Trent Burnham served the Lions in the net, only conceding one goal, while recording 25 saves.
