ST. CHARLES, MO. – On Friday night, women's lacrosse took on Kent State. With strong offensive play, the Lions would cruise to an 18-11 victory over the Golden Flashes.
GAME OVERVIEW
In the first quarter, the Golden Flashes were able to strike first, scoring 51 seconds into the frame. At 11:32, Eldredge would tie the game up, scoring from a free-position attempt. One minute later, the Golden Flashes were able to regain the one-goal lead. The Lions would score a pair of goals at 9:38 and 8:55 from Eldredge and
Breylin Bright to take their first lead of the game. The Golden Flashes would bounce back, tying the game up at 3-3, with 7:05 left to go in the quarter. The Lions would score two goals to end the frame, leading 5-3. Eldredge and
Reese Krieger would be attributed the final two goals in the frame.
In the second quarter, the Lions would score first, coming from
Alissa Digiacinto, at 13:46. Eldredge would score her fourth goal of the game at 7:54, to extend the Lions lead to four. Kent State would score the final two goals in the frame, with the Lions leading 7-5 going into halftime.
In the third quarter, the Lions would score four straight goals to start off the period, coming from three tallies by Eldredge and a tally by
Isabella Rulapaugh. The Golden Flashes found their first goal of the third quarter with 3:36 left to go in the frame. Less than a minute later, Digiacinto would score to put the Lions up six. Kent State would score the final goal of the frame with the Lions leading 12-7 after three quarters.
In the fourth quarter, Rulapaugh would start off the scoring for the Lions at the 13:20 mark.
Sara Grieco would put the Lions up seven with 11:26 to go. At 10:19, the Golden Flashes would their first tally of the frame, cutting their deficit with the Lions to six. Lindenwood and Kent State would trade off the next four goals, with the Lions leading 16-10 with 6:20 left. Lindenwood would score a pair at 2:28 and 1:44 to extend their lead to eight. Kent State would score the final goal of the game with 1:09 left.
Haylie Sims started in net for the Lions, making seven stops.
