ST. CHARLES, Mo. - Lindenwood beach volleyball (6-3, 0-0 OVC) won their first home match of the season against Southwest Baptist (3-12) by a final score of 3-2. The Lions played at Evans Court for the first time in 2024 picking up their Ohio Valley Conference leading sixth win.
"Great team win for our first ever home match on campus at Lindenwood," said interim head coach Tyler Fenton. "We made some lineup changes this week and I'm really impressed with how our team responded and found successes."
Amber Schade and
Elise Llorens started the match off with a 2-0 sweep at the number five pair with set scores od 21-14 and 21-10 against SBU. The duo improves to 6-3 on the season as the number five pair.
Making their debut as a duo, the number three pairing of
Taylor Gentemann and
Annalie McWhorter picked up their first win as a duo with scores od 21-17 and 21-17. Gentemann was previously at the number two pair.
Another first time duo,
Nyah Wilson and
Abby Jacobs picked up the match-clinching win at the number two spot with scores of 21-13 and 21-16. Southwest Baptist hit a ball out of bounds off a shot by Wilson to end the match with a 3-2 Lindenwood win.
Jessie Seidal and
Kailee McGee fell at the number four pair by scores of17-21, 21-18 and 7-15. The number one pair for the Lions
Maider Soto and
Katie Malzahn also fell on Thursday by scores of 19-21 and 13-21.
Lindenwood will start OVC play next weekend in Chattanooga at the first OVC Weekend of the season starting on Friday, March 22 vs. Morehead State. For more information go to lindenwoodlions.com.
