The Lindenwood men's volleyball team (8-10, 3-6 MIVA) fell in three sets to Purdue Fort Wayne (10-9, 4-6 MIVA) on Friday night from Fort Wayne, Ind.
MATCH OVERVIEW
Lindenwood jumped out to a 6-3 lead, but Purdue Fort Wayne responded with the next four points to take a 7-6 lead. The Lions went ahead 15-12 at the media timeout after an
A.J. Lewis Kill, but the Mastodons responded, grabbing a late lead in the set at 19-18, which forced a Lindenwood timeout. The two teams traded points until PFW was able to grab the first set at 25-23.
Purdue Fort Wayne won the race to 10 in the second set and went up 13-10. The Mastodons grew the lead going up 16-12 but Lindenwood got it back within one after a Lewis kill. The seesaw battle in the second set continued, but Lindenwood was able to grab some momentum after a
Clay Wieter kill to go up 23-22. However, the Mastodons earned the next to points which forced Lindenwood to take a timeout. PFW finished of the second set with a big block at 25-23 and took a 2-0 led in the match.
In the third set, Purdue Fort Wayne held a slim 15-12 advantage at the media timeout. Lindenwood managed to tie things up at 17 apiece with a block from Lewis and
RaShawn Bonner. Each squad went back-and-forth down the stretch of the third as the set needed extra points. Lindenwood grabbed a 26-25 lead. Purdue Fort Wayne answered back and took the last set of the match 29-27.
