NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Lindenwood softball (12-13, 2-3 OVC) lose both games of a Saturday double header against the Lady Tigers of Tennessee State in Nashville, Tenn. by scores of 2-1 and 5-4. The Lions were held to a .151 batting average in two games.
GAME ONE
Lindenwood - 1
Tennessee State - 2
Lindenwood lost game one on Saturday in a defensive battle against the Lady Tigers by a final score of 2-1. TSU scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the game from the Lions.

Avery Wapp (L, 4-4) pitched a gem of a game despite picking up the loss for Lindenwood. She threw all six innings allowing five hits and two runs while striking out 12 batters, the second most strikeouts by Wapp this season.

At the plate, the Lions were held to just two hits by winning pitcher Caitlyn Manus (W, 5-5).
Izzy Wilcox and
Ashley Gerber both had a hit for Lindenwood in game one.

Wapp had at least one strikeout in every inning for the Lions in game one including back-to-back three strikeout innings in the third and fourth.

Lindenwood led 1-0 early after the top of the second inning after
Mya Bethany hit a sac fly to center field to score Wilcox who had doubled to start the inning. It would be the lone run for the Lions as they only leave two people on base throughout the entire game.

The Lions defense had contained the Tigers' offense for most of the game before the sixth inning. After a bunt single by Laila Armstrong, she was brought home after and RBI triple by Anayah Baker-Rowell who would then score on an error to put TSU up 2-1 heading into the seventh.

Lindenwood had a runner on with two outs in the top of the seventh, but left Gerber stranded as the Tigers took game one of Saturday's double header.
GAME TWO (8 inn.)
Lindenwood - 4
Tennessee State - 5
The Lions went into extra innings after scoring two runs in the top of the seventh inning before falling in Saturday's game two of an OVC double header to TSU by a final score of 5-4. Lindenwood left six stranded in the loss.
Amanda Weyh (ND) pitched the first six innings of the ball game before being relieved by game one started
Avery Wapp (L, 4-5). Weyh allowed four runs on eight hits with four strikeouts on Saturday. She is now just three strikeouts away from breaking the Lindenwood NCAA record for K's.
Lindenwood had six hits in game two in Nashville including a double from
Dallis Darnell. Tennessee State scored five runs in game two on 12 hits. Game one's winning pitched Caitlyn Manus (W, 6-5) got the win in relief.
Tennessee State scored first in the bottom of inning one after an RBI double by Anayah Baker-Rowell. Lindenwood responded with a run of their own in the top of the second after
Irelynn West scored after a double steal.
With the bases loaded in the top of the fourth,
Jolie McMinn walked to bring home the Lions' second run of the ball game to go up 2-1. TSU came back in the fifth scoring three runs on three hits including a two RBI triple from Nahtali Simpson.
Lindenwood did not back down after being down two heading into the seventh.
Mya Bethany and
Tori Hatton both posted an RBI to tie the game and send it to extras. Wapp got out of the bottom of the seventh with two runners on.
Game two ended in a two-out walk off double by Peyton Fointno to clinch the victory for the Lady Tigers.
