NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Lindenwood softball (12-14, 2-4 OVC) dropped their final game at Tennessee State (14-11, 5-1 OVC) by a final score of 6-3 on Sunday. The Lions left 10 runners on base in the loss while adding a series high eight hits.
Amanda Weyh (L, 7-6) ended with the loss for the Lions after throwing four innings allowing five runs on five hits while tossing five strikeouts. Weyh's second strikeout in the first inning was her 467th in her career at Lindenwood which set the new program record (NCAA era).
At the plate,
Tori Hatton went 3-3 with three singles and
Dallis Darnell went 2-4 while scoring two runs.
Izzy Wilcox also went 1-3 with two RBI. Tennessee State's Caitlyn Manus (W, 7-5) won for the Lady Tigers after throwing the first five innings allowing seven hits and two runs.
Lindenwood scored right away in the top of the first inning after an RBI single by Wilcox that brought home Darnell. The Lions left at least one runner on base in each of the next three innings before the Lady Tigers struck.
Tennessee State's offense scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on five hits off of Weyh. In the first three innings, TSU combined for just one hit and two base runners before they scored five runs to take the lead 5-1.
Wilcox added her second RBI of the afternoon in the top of the fifth with a sacrifice fly to score Darnell. TSU then scored their sixth and final run in the bottom half of the inning with a bunt single. The Lions scored in the top of the seventh off an error by TSU, as they would fall 6-3 on Sunday in game three.
