OZARK, Mo. - Lindenwood beach volleyball (4-3, 0-0 OVC) dropped their only match at their second Missouri State Tournament with a 5-0 loss against the host school MSU (9-0). Lindenwood's match against Southern Baptist was postponed til later this season.
"We got pushed by a very good Missouri State team," said interim head coach Tyler Fenton. "I'm really happy with the three and four pairs for their tough play and believe that our whole team is better off in the long run after this weekend."
Maider Soto and
Katie Malzahn battled in the number one pairing falling to Missouri State;s number one duo by final scores of 21-8 and 21-13.
Taylor Gentemann and
Nyah Wilson also played hard in their number two pair with scores of 21-14 and 21-11.
After dropping their first set in the number three match by a score of 21-8,
Annalie McWhorter and
Abby Jacobs battled tough going back-and-forth before ultimately dropping the second set by a score of 30-28.
Jessie Seidel and Katie McGee were the lone match to go three sets. The number four pairing won the first by a score of 21-17. After falling 21-11 in the second, they played til the last point falling by a score of 16-14.
Amber Schade and
Elise Llorens also fell 21-13 and 21-12 at the number five spot.
Lindenwood will be back in action on March 11 when they travel to McKendree for a Monday match starting at 12:00 p.m. For more information go to lindenwoodlions.com.
