CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Lindenwood beach volleyball (8-3, 2-0 OVC) swept both matches at the first day of the Ohio Valley Conference Weekend hosted at UTC Sports Complex. The Lions took down Morehead State and Tennessee Tech to start OVC play 2-0.
"Opening conference 2-0 is not easy and I'm really impressed with the focus our group has," said interim head coach Tyler Fenton. "Morehead and Tech really challenged us and I am proud of our team for what they did."
MATCH ONE
Lindenwood - 5
Morehead State - 0
Lindenwood started out the day with an impressive 5-0 victory over Morehead State to start the first OVC Weekend of the season. The Lions were led by first-time pair
Maider Soto and Nya Wilson at the one pair. They finished with scores of 21-11 and 21-15. It also marked the first win in program history over Morehead State.
Another first time pair of
Katie Malzahn and
Abby Jacobs secured the match at the number two spot with set scores of 21-18 and 21-16 against Morehead's Sydney Wyman and Peighton Isley. They were the third set win for the Lions to claim the match.
Annalie McWhorter and
Taylor Gentemann handled business at the three pair with set scores of 23-21, 18-21 and 15-10. The number four pair of
Jessie Seidel and
Kailee McGee also went three sets winning 19-21, 21-10 and 15-11.
Elise Llorens and
Amber Schade started the meet at the number five spot winning in two sets by final scores of 21-12 and 21-10.

Lindenwood - 4
Tennessee Tech - 1
The Lions continued their dominant first day in Chattanooga with a 5-0 victory over Tennessee Tech. Lindenwood improves their record to 2-2 against the Golden Eagles.
Soto and Wilson continued their success at the number one pair against TTU's Maddie Isringhausen and Bella Powell with scores of 21-8 and 21-15. They were the clinching point in the match finishing third out of five matches.
Malzahn and Jacobs started 2-0 as a pair at the number two spot with set scores of 21-15 and 21-17. Gentemann and McWhorter also had success at the number three pairing with scores of 21-17 and 21-16.
Seidel and McGee had a tough two set match in the number four pairs finishing with scores of 13-21 and 20-22. Schade and Llorens wrapped up day one at the five spot with scores of 22-20 and 21-16.
