The Lindenwood baseball team dropped their rubber match against Little Rock 7-3 on Saturday afternoon in St. Charles, Mo at the Lou Brock Sports Complex.
The fifth, sixth, eighth and ninth innings were scoreless for both teams. Lindenwood took an early lead in the bottom of the first when Mitch Cummins scored on a wild pitch. The Trojans scored five runs in the top of the second, to take a 5-1 lead. In the bottom of the third, the Lions roared back with two runs of their own, shorting the lead to 5-3; however, Little Rock scored one run in the top of the fourth and seventh innings. Lindenwood's two runs in the third came on a double by Cummins to left center field, allowing Colin Shea and Evan Funkhouser to score.
Josh Newell took the loss for Lindenwood on the mound as the team finished with three runs on five hits.
Lindenwood will travel to Carbondale, Illinois, to face Southern Illinois University on Tuesday, April 2nd at 5:00 pm.
