The Lindenwood men's volleyball team (11-11, 6-7 MIVA) won its third-straight game after defeating Purdue Fort Wayne (11-11, 5-8 MIVA) 3-0 on Friday night in Hyland Arena.
MATCH OVERVIEW
Things were knotted up at five apiece early, but Lindenwood used a 4-0 run, capped off by a
RaShawn Bonner and
A.J. Lewis block to gain some separation. The Lions built on its lead which grew to 17-11 after an ace from
Ian Schuller. The black and gold were able to close out the first set at 25-22 and go up 1-0 in the match.
Lindenwood jumped out to a quick 9-3 lead in the second set and led throughout. The Lions lead ballooned all the way to 20-13 with a termination from
Kadin Warner. With a 21-14 advantage, Purdue Fort Wayne clawed back with the next three points to cut the deficit to four. Lindenwood responded with a 3-0 run which helped the Lions pick up the second set 25-19.
The third set started like the first with the Lions using a 4-0 run to go up 9-5. Lindenwood held a slim 15-13 advantage before
Carter Stenmark subbed in. With Stenmark back to serve, the Lions went on a 7-0 run, capped off by a kill from Schuller. Lindenwood never looked back and won the third set 25-15. The Lions hit an outstanding .548 in the final frame.
