ST. CHARLES, Mo. - Lindenwood beach volleyball (10-5, 3-2 OVC) earned their 10th victory of the season after they defeated Eastern Illinois (3-8, 0-5 OVC) by a final score of 4-1 on senior day at Evans Courts. This marked the first of two matches against EIU this season.
"Today was a great day," said interim head coach Tyler Fenton. "Going undefeated at home, earning 10 wins and adding a conference win is a big deal! It was a great senior day and I'm thankful for all they've put in to this program."
The Lions started senior day by honoring their six seniors including
Maider Soto who helped Lindenwood at the number one pairing along with
Nyah Wilson. This duo defeated EIU's number one pair of Tori Mohesky and Christina Martinez Mundo by final scores of 21-6 and 21-15.
Senior duo of
Amber Schade and
Elise Llorens picked up the first win of the day in St. Charles with a 2-0 victory over the number five pair of the Panthers. Schade and Llorens won with scores of 21-18 and 21-15. The pair was part of Lindenwood's inaugural season.
Taylor Gentemann and
Abby VanBuskirk were able to take down Lilli Amettis and Catalina Rochaix at the number three spot with set scores of 22-20 and 21-12. Lindenwood started the day with three straight wins making Gentemann and VanBuskirk's win the clinching point.
Jessie Seidel and
Annalie McWhorter added the final point on senior day in the number four match with set scores of 22-20, 14-21 and 15-10.
Katie Malzahn and
Abby Jacobs suffered the lone loss for the Lions in a close two sets (17-21 and 14-21).
