Women's rugby finished second at the Collegiate Rugby Association of America (CRAA) Sevens National Championship May 3-4 in Houston, Texas. The Lions fell to Harvard 17-12 in the final match on Saturday.
After falling to the Crimson 17-10 in the first round of pool play on Friday, Lindenwood rebounded for three straight victories, earning a 19-0 shutout over Long Island University, and then back-to-back 29-12 wins over Sacred Heart and Penn State.
With a 3-1 mark, the Lions finished second in the pool, setting up a semifinal match-up against Dartmouth College. Lindenwood outlasted the Big Green 24-19 to advance to the championship game against Harvard.
Standout players included
Amy Brice,
Demi Allen, and
Jet Metz. Brice scored seven tries and assisted on several others.
The CRAA Sevens National Championship featured the top 10, sevens teams from across the country. Women's rugby appeared at the event, the final for the Lions this season, after just eight trainings in the discipline due to the XV's post-season ending on April 14.
