Jed Stugart Announces Additions to Football Staff

Lindenwood football head coach Jed Stugart has announced additions to the coaching staff ahead of the 2024 season. David Flores has been hired as the offensive line coach, while Brandon Johnson-Farrell, who joined the staff in the spring will work with the wide receivers. Lane Lawson who has been apart of the staff for the last three seasons has earned a promotion and will work with the running backs.

"Coach BJ was on our staff at Sioux Falls and when we had the opportunity to reunite, we jumped at the chance," said head coach Jed Stugart. "As I've gotten to know Coach Flores over the years, it became immediately apparent that he, just like coach BJ, fits the culture and values of our program, so I couldn't be more excited to have Coach BJ and Coach Flores joining our football family."

Flores spent the last eight seasons on the staff at Evangel University. At Evangel, Flores began his tenure as the defensive line coach, where he coached two All-Americans and had at least one all-conference performer in four out of six seasons. Flores coached Josh Evans and Andreas Moeller who both went on to be named Conference Player of the Year in 2017 and 2018, respectively. Both led the Heart of America Conference (HAAC) in tackles for loss and sacks in each season. He also took over the special teams coordinator position prior to 2021.

Flores was promoted to offensive coordinator in the spring of 2022. In 2023, he led the Valor to their most wins since 2001, as they finished the year 11-1. Under the guidance of Flores, Evangel finished the year atop the conference in total passing and No. 3 in rushing. Flores also coached the offensive line where he had six all-conference selections and the first All-American on the offensive line since 2005.

Prior to his time in Springfield, Mo. Flores spent three seasons at the University of Missouri, in the football recruiting department in 2013 and was elevated to assistant director of recruiting in 2014. In his first two seasons at Mizzou, the Tigers won the SEC East going a combined 23-5 and winning the Cotton Bowl and Citrus Bowl.

Before Missouri, Flores spent two seasons at Avila University from 2011-12 as the Wide Receivers Coach.

Avila broke 16 offensive school records during his tenure, including most points in a season, most receptions in a season by a receiver, and most passing yards in a game. He developed four All-Heart of America Athletic Conference receivers, including the school's all-time leader in receptions and first-team All-HAAC honoree Da'Veion Sullivan.

Originally from Fayetteville, Ark., Flores played fullback and tight end for Evangel, where he was a four-year letterman from 2006 to 2009 and team captain for his final season.

He received his bachelor's degree in physical education in 2010 from Evangel and earned a master's in Education from Avila in 2012.

Johnson-Farrell comes to Lindenwood after spending the 2023 season at Eastern Washington, where he coached the running backs.

Prior to his time at EWU, Johnson-Farrell spent seven seasons at the University of Sioux Falls, where he served as the special teams coordinator and wide receivers coach from 2018-22. While at Sioux Falls, he coached 10 players to all-conference honors, while the Cougars made three playoff appearances and his receiving groups have been among the best in the NSIC. In 2021, Sioux Falls attained program bests in blocked punts (4), kickoff coverage average (15.8 yards) and net punting (38.8).

Johnson-Farrell was a graduate assistant from 2016-17. In 2017, he coached a pair of running backs to all-conference recognition after the team averaged 190 yards per game on the ground. During the 2016 season, the Cougars went 11-0 in the regular season, winning the NSIC Championship, earning a playoff appearance and the No. 8 ranking in the final AFCA Poll.
