CARBONDALE, ILL. – On Sunday afternoon, Lindenwood women's soccer team faced off against the Salukis of Southern Illinois in the Lions second to last non-conference matchup of the 2024 campaign. The Lions would record their fourth win of the season against the Salukis, winning 1-0, scoring a goal in the early part of the second half.

MATCH OVERVIEW
In the first half, both teams were held off the scoring column.  Lindenwood would be held to only one shot on the frame, while Southern Illinois had five. Lindenwood would make three saves in the frame. Southern Illinois had the 4-3 advantage in corners, going into the second half.

In the second half, Lindenwood would score the only goal of the match in the 56^th minute. Georgia Pardalos would be credited with the goal, and Lily Sutter would be credited with the assist. Gritty defense by the Lions would keep the Salukis off the scoreboard in the second half. Southern Illinois outshot the Lions in the second half 10-5. The Salukis would also have the 3-2 advantage in corner kicks in the second half.

After the match, Lindenwood improved to 4-3 on the year. Caroline Ritter got the nod in net for the Lions, making six saves, recording her second career shutout as a Lion.

"Today was a very scrappy game and we are pleased to be coming out of Carbondale with a road victory. Even if it's not the prettiest of games, finding ways to win these gritty games is a positive sign from our group going forward," said head coach Dave Musso.
