Women’s Ice Hockey Drops Game Two Versus Mercyhurst

ERIE, PA. – On Saturday morning, women's ice hockey (3-18-2, 2-8-1 AHA) battled Mercyhurst (13-11-1, 7-4-0 AHA) in game two of the series versus the Lakers. The Lions would fall 5-2 to the Lakers, with the Lions falling to 3-19-2 overall and 2-9-1 in conference play.  The Lakers would improve to 14-11-1 overall and 8-4-0 in conference play.

GAME OVERVIEW
At 9:51 in the first period, Gigi Pora redirected a shot past the Laker's goaltender to put the Lions up 1-0. Pora's fifth goal of the season would be assisted by Morgan Neitzke and Ellie Muscedere, coming while on the power-play. Not more than a minute later at 10:49, Mercyhurst scored a short-handed goal on a 1-on-0 breakaway opportunity, brought out by a Lindenwood turnover. At the end of the period, Lindenwood would be tied 1-1 with the Mercyhurst Lakers. In the period, Anna LaRose stopped ten shots in net for the Lions. Lindenwood would find 13 shots on net in the frame.

In period two, Lindenwood would regain the one-goal lead at 3:05, coming from a Morgan Neitzke back-handed shot. Neitzke's eighth goal of the season and her 55th career goal would be assisted by Molly Henderson and Zsofia Pazmandi. Mercyhurst would score the final goal in the period at 18:08, resulting in the period ending in a 2-2 tie. The Lions would have ten shots on net in the period. LaRose would stop 19 shots in the frame.

Mercyhurst would take the 3-2 lead at 13:03 into the third period. The Lakers would score twice more before the end of the period, to extend their lead to three. In the period, Lindenwood would have eight shots on net and LaRose would make ten stops.

On the day, Lindenwood would have 31 shots on net and LaRose would make a total of 39 stops.
