Pora Tallies Two Points in 5-2 Loss to Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – On Friday afternoon, women's ice hockey took on the Syracuse Orange. It remained a back-and-forth contest, until the third period where Syracuse would take hold of the game. The Lions would fall 5-2 to the Orange. After the contest, Lindenwood falls to 3-22-2 on the season and Syracuse improves to 9-20-0.
 
GAME OVERVIEW
1:01 into the first period, Syracuse would net the first goal of the game on a wrap-around shot. For the remainder of the period, the score would remain 1-0 in Syracuse's favor. In the period, Anna Larose made three stops in net for the Lions. Lindenwood would have ten shots on goal in the period.

7:16 into the second period, Gigi Pora would direct a shot past Syracuse's netminder's five-hole to tie the contest up at 1-1. Pora's sixth goal of the season would be assisted by Morgan Neitzke. With 8:47 left in the period, Syracuse would regain the one-goal lead, scoring from the left wing, dinking a shot off the left post, while on the power-play. Syracuse would extend their lead to two with 4:40 left in the period, scoring off a tipped pass from the point, while on the power play. Lindenwood would come back with a score of their own with 2:51 left in frame, to cut Syracuse's lead back to one. Silje Gundersen would be credited Lindenwood's second goal on the afternoon, scoring off a one-timer assisted by Gigi Pora and Molly Henderson. This would be Gundersen's fifth goal on the freshman campaign. The period would end with the Orange leading 3-2. In the frame, LaRose stopped ten shots. Offensively, Lindenwood had ten shots on net in the frame.

In the third period, Syracuse found the back of the net twice. The Orange's fourth goal of the night came with 4:26 left in the frame, scoring from the right wing, extending their lead to two. Not more than a minute later with 3:52 left in the final period of play, Syracuse would make the contest 5-2, scoring on a two-on-one breakaway. In the final period of play, LaRose and Madison Bowtell would make 13 saves combined. Lindenwood would have ten shots on goal in the frame.

Lindenwood's goaltenders in the contest stopped 26 shots. Offensively, Lindenwood would find 30 on net in the game.
