The Lindenwood football team (3-5, 2-2 OVC-Big South) fell on homecoming to Gardner-Webb (5-3, 3-1 OVC-Big South) by a score of 48-20.
GAME OVERVIEW
Lindenwood punted on the first possession of the game and Gardner-Webb went on a 13-play 80-yard drive to open the scoring and take a 7-0 lead. The Runnin' Bulldogs doubled their lead late in the first and took a 14-0 advantage into the second.
The Lions moved the ball into GWU territory to begin the second quarter, but the drive stalled and
Will Graham converted from 31-yards out to make the score 14-3. GWU found the end zone again on its next possession, growing the lead to 21-3 with 5:39 to go in the half. A few minutes later, Graham kicked another field, moving the score to 2106. The Runnin' Bulldogs scored again, making the score 28-6 with 1:48 to go.
Lindenwood put a drive together before the half with a mix of run and pass. Nate Glanyz found
Darrin Fugitt who found his way into the end zone, cutting the deficit to 28-13 at the break.
Gardner-Webb opened the second half with a touchdown, going up 35-13. Lindenwood answered back with a score on the ground as
Steve Hall got in from one yard out. GWU led 35-20 after three.
The Runnin' Bulldogs scored the final 13 points of the game to earn the 48-20 win on Saturday.
