Women's Rugby Improves to 7-1 with 90-14 Win Over Davenport

ST. CHARLES, MO. - Lindenwood Women's Rugby defeated Davenport on Saturday morning in dominating fashion. The Lions erupted for 43 first half points and never looked back en route to their seventh win of the season.

Joselin Roque Lopez opened up the scoring for the Lions in the fourth minute to grab the early lead at 5-0 followed by a Jasmine Fehoko try at the 12th minute. Lopez added on two more points on the conversion to put Lindenwood in front 12-0. Mia Saige Topasna scored Lindenwood's third try of the match five minutes later as the Lions took complete control going up 19-0 with 23 minutes to go in the opening half.

Fehoko scored her second try of the contest in the 25th minute, followed by back-to-back tries by Evelynn Danhof putting the Lions ahead 38-0. Danhof's second try of the match came after she blocked a Davenport kick and took it all the way to the try zone as nobody from Davenport was behind the kicker on the play. The final try of the half came in the 38th minute as Susana Kaihau scored a try from 10 meters out to give the Lions a 43-0 lead at the break. Joselin Roque Lopez would finish the first half 4/7 on conversions while Fehoko added her third try in two weeks, leading the Lions in that category.

In the second half, Gabby Bryant scored the first try of the half in the 43rd minute as she broke free from 50 yards out to extend the Lion's lead to 48-0. Gianna Diaz put Lindenwood up by 50 as she added a conversion for her first of the match. Nine minutes later, Lopez intercepted a Davenport pass and took it the distance from 60 yards out and added her fifth conversion of the match to make it a 57-0 lead. Topasna added her second try of the match in the 54th minute and Honey Proudfoot scored back-to-back tries in the 58th and 61st minutes making it 76-0. Davenport scored their first try in the 65th minute to make it 76-7, but Lindenwood responded again later in the half on Susana Kaihau's second try of the match making it 83-7. The Panthers scored their second try of the match in the 75th minute making it 83-14, but the Lions responded once again in the 88th minute on a try by Jenalei Fifita to wrap up the scoring making the final score 90-14.

The Lions will be back on November 15 when they host the NIRA semifinal. The opponent and time is TBD.
