After an own goal by the Screaming Eagles made it 2-0, Leandro Haesler scored the Lion's third goal of the first half in the 41st minute as Lindenwood took a 3-0 lead into halftime. Haesler struck again in the 89th minute to give the Lions the 4-0 victory. With the win over the Screaming Eagles, the Lions officially clinched a spot in the OVC Men's Soccer Tournament which will be held in St. Charles.

Haesler's performance against USI was recognized by the Ohio Valley Conference on Tuesday, as he was named the OVC Defender of the Week for the second time during the 2025 season. All three goals scored by the 6'3 Senior on the road this season have been in the town of Evansville, Indiana. Gavin Roberts was also named the OVC Goalkeeper of the Week for recording one save in 65 minutes en route to his fifth win of the season.

About Eastern Illinois
EIU has been picking up some steam as of late, going 3-0-1 in their last four games. The Panthers have defeated Western Illinois, Incarnate Word, and Southern Indiana during their unbeaten stretch, with their lone tie being at home against Liberty by a score of 2-2. Junior Forward Gui Gragnano was recently named the OVC Offensive Player of the Week as he scored two goals in their 3-1 win over WIU on Saturday.

The Lions took down the Panthers in their last matchup on October 2 in Charleston by a score of 3-0. Luca Bartoni recorded four points in the win, scoring one goal and registered two assists. His four-point performance made him the OVC Offensive Player of the Week on October 7.
