The Lindenwood football team (3-3, 2-0 OVC-Big South) knocked off UT Martin (1-5, 1-1 OVC-Big South) by a score of 30-14 on Saturday from Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo.
GAME OVERVIEW
UT Martin opened the game with a seven-minute drive that saw the Skyhawks get near the Lindenwood redzone. However, sacks by
Tajay Passmore and
Nolan O'Hara halted their possession and the Lions would take over on downs. On the ensuing offensive drive,
Nate Glantz connected with
Jalen Smith on a 42-yard strike and the Black and Gold eventually found the endzone three plays later with Glantz finding
Rico Bond from 10 yards out, putting Lindenwood up 7-0 with 5:02 to go in the quarter. The Lions would lead by that score after one
The Skyhawks would find the end zone early in the second quarter to tie the game at seven apiece. After the early scores, both defenses tightened up and the game was knotted at seven at the break.
Lindenwood opened the second half with the ball and took a 14-7 lead with an eight-play 58-yard drive capped off with a 14-yard connection between Glantz and
Drew Krobath. The Lions followed it up with a defensive stop. On the next offensive possession, Glantz and Smith connected again for a 62-yard score, extending the lead to 21-7. The Lions continued their stout play defensively as
Sanjay Strickland forced a fumble late in the third and Lindenwood led by two scores after three quarters.
In the fourth, the Lions began to salt the game away on the ground.
Will Graham connected from 22 yards out to push the Lindenwood lead to 24-7. A few minutes later, Glantz went on a 59-yard scamper, and the drive was finished off by
Steve Hall, growing the lead to 30-7. Lindenwood went on to win 30-14 and improved to 2-0 in OVC-Big South play.
