Women's Hockey Drops Home Series To Robert Morris

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. - The Lindenwood Women's Hockey team dropped their series finale to Robert Morris at home on Saturday afternoon by a score of 3-0. The Lions recorded 29 shots on goal for the game and were led by Ellie Muscedere who had six shots on target.

Robert Morris opened the scoring within the first three minutes of the first period to grab a 1-0 lead after the Colonials forced a Lions turnover and scored on an extended offensive zone attack. Lindenwood had a good scoring chance with less than six minutes to go in the opening 20 minutes, but couldn't capitalize on the opportunity. Zsofia Pazmandi sent a pass from the Lions defensive zone to a wide open Hannah Dods in the neutral zone leading to a one-on-two. Dods was able to skate in between two Robert Morris defenders and fired a shot from close distance that was saved by the Colonial goaltender to keep the Lions off the board. Tatiana Blichova and Ellie Muscedere each had two shots in the first period to lead the Lions offensively.

After no goals were scored in the second period, Robert Morris added two power play goals in the third period to take the final game of the series. The Lions committed eight penalties in the game, which resulted in seven power plays for Robert Morris. Lindenwood was able to kill off five of the seven power plays, but the penalties were eventually too much for Lindenwood to overcome in the final period of play.

The Lions will stay at Centene Community Ice Center next weekend for their final home series in the first half of the season as they will host Bemidji State next Friday and Saturday. Puck drop on Friday is scheduled for 4 p.m.
