Giovanni Morneau of Lindenwood men's hockey has been named NCAA Division-I Independent Hockey Player of the Month following his performance for the Lions in October. Morneau was a staple on LU's top line, leading the squad last month with 10 points on a team-high six goals to go along with four assists.

The sophomore from Ottawa, ON, Canada recorded at least one point in six of his nine appearances during the month, including a two-goal, one-assist outing in LU's 7-4 win over Lake Superior State on October 11.

He scored the first goal of his NCAA career against Wisconsin on a power play and led Lindenwood with three power play goals in October. He also paced the Lions with 25 total shots, finishing the month with a shot percentage of .240.

Morneau was also tied for the team lead with 65 faceoff wins during the month.

Giovanni and the Lions gets this weekend off before returning to action next week with a pair of exhibition games against Grand Canyon at Centene Community Ice Center. The series is the first of three consecutive home weekends for Lindenwood. Game one is set for 7:10 p.m. on Friday, November 14th.
