DiGiacinto, Krieger Collect Six Points in Win Over Mercyhurst

The Lindenwood women's lacrosse team (2-0) earned a 17-7 win over Mercyhurst (0-1) on Monday afternoon in Erie, Pa.

GAME OVERVIEW
The Lions got started fast with goals from Alissa DiGiacinto, Annie Willie, and Resse Krieger as Lindenwood went up 3-0 less than three minutes in. The Black and Gold continued to pour it on with three more goals from Mia Proctor, DiGiacinto, and Emma Walsh. The Lions led 6-0 after one behind dominance on the draw and strong goaltending from Aislinn Sweeney who made six saves.

Lindenwood outscored Mercyhurst 5-2 in the second quarter as Krieger compiled a hat trick in the middle frame to give her four for the half. The other goals came from Walsh and DiGiacinto. Sweney finished with seven saves in the first 30 minutes, while Ryleigh Cavanaugh compiled nine draw controls. The Lions led 11-2 at the break.

In the third quarter, DiGiacinto scored again, finding the back of the net for the fourth time on the day. That would be the only goal of the quarter for Lindenwood as they held a 12-4 lead after three.

DiGiacinto and Wille started the scoring in the fourth quarter to push the Lindenwood lead to 14-4. Mercyhurst scored the next two goals to pull within 14-6. Krieger netted a pair of goals in the fourth to bring her total up to six on the day. Claire Blue scored a late goal for Lindenwood as the Lions won 17-7.
