The Lindenwood women's hockey team (4-25-2, 3-15-1 AHA) picked up a 5-1 road win over Robert Morris (8-22-3, 2-15-2 AHA) on Friday night in Moon Township, Pa.
GAME OVERVIEW
The Lions were on the penalty kill right away, and killed off a major early. Lindenwood responded with a goal a minute after getting back to even strength.
Morgan Neitzke put Lindenwood up 1-0, assisted by
Sidney Jackel at the 6:51 mark. Robert Morris answered back on the man advantage late in the period as the game was tied 1-1 after 20 minutes.
Lindenwood had an early powerplay to begin the second period but couldn't convert. However,
Sydney Rarick found the back of the net at the 3:40 mark assisted by
Josey Dunne and
Silje Gundersen, giving the Lions a 2-1 lead. The Black and Gold were strong on the penalty kill in the frame, and
Anna LaRose mad 12 stops. Lindenwood was able to extend its lead late thanks to
Zsofia Pazmandi, who was assisted by
Chloe Corbin and
Quinn McLaren at 17:40. Lindenwood would lead 3-1 heading to the third.
After an early kill to begin the third, Lindenwood would generate some offense, outshooting the Colonials 12-9 in the final frame. Neitzke would light the lamp on the powerplay, assisted by Pazmandi and Gundersen, putting Lindenwood up 4-1. Gundersen would seal the deal late with helpers from
Elina Zilliox and Rarick. Larose would finish with 31 stops on the night as Lindenwood earned a 5-1 win.
