The Lindenwood women's hockey team (5-25-2, 4-15-1 AHA) earned a series sweep over Robert Morris (8-23-2, 2-16-2 AHA) after a 6-2 win on Saturday afternoon in Moon Township, Pa.
GAME OVERVIEW
Lindenwood faced an early kill and got it done. The Lions broke the deadlock at the 12:31 mark when
Zsofia Pazmandi found the back of the net for the second-straight game, giving the Black and Gold a 1-0 lead. RMU would eventually covert on the powerplay, tying the game late at 1 apiece, which would be the score after 20 minutes of play.
Both teams carried the offensive momentum into the second period as they combined for 36 shots on goal in the frame.
Sidney Jackel gave the Lions a 2-1 lead, assisted by Pazmandi at the four-minute mark. The Lions would get a two-goal advantage just before the midway point of the period as Megan Cronan lit the lamp from assists from
Sydney Rarick and
Silje Gundersen. Lindenwood added another goal from
Morgan Neitzke just 20 seconds later.
Gigi Pora and
Olivia Grabianowski registered helpers and the score moved to 4-1.
Catherine Hodgins stopped all 17 shots faced in the second period, and the Lions held a three-goal lead headed to the third.
In the third, the Lions took their biggest lead of the game at 5-1 after a goal from Pora, who was assisted by Pora and Grabianowski. Neitzke added her fourth goal of the weekend late in the frame when Lindenwood was shorthanded, making the score 6-1. The Lions eventually won 6-2.
