The Lindenwood women's lacrosse team (3-1) earned another road win, defeating Saint Francis University (1-3) by a score of 14-9 on Thursday afternoon in Loretta, Pa.
GAME OVERVIEW
Lindenwood started fast and opened the scoring less than two minutes in as
Isabella Rulapaugh found the back of the next, putting the Lions up 1-0 less than two minutes in. The Black and Gold went on to score the next four goals, coming from
Alissa DiGiacinto,
Emma Walsh and two from
Reese Krieger, as the Lions grabbed a 5-0 lead. Saint Francis answered back with the next two, cutting the deficit to 5-2, which would be the score after one.
Both defenses tightened up in the second quarter with Aislin Sweeney making a pair of big saves just past the midway point of the frame.
Olivia Tighe got the Lions on the board in the second quarter, quickly followed by
Luci Selander, extending the lead to 7-2. Krieger completed the first half hat trick at the 5:46 mark, making the score 8-2. After SFU got one back, Selander scored again, pushing the lead to 9-3. The Red Flashes got the final three scores of the quarter, cutting the deficit to 9-6 at the break
SFU opened the scoring in the third quarter, getting within two at 9-7. After one more to make it a 9-8 game, Krieger settled things down for Lindenwood with her fourth of the day, giving the Lions a 10-8 advantage. Selander netted another one before the end of the quarter, putting Lindenwood up 11-8 after three.
The two teams traded goals to begin the fourth with
Isabella Jahkhah scoring for Lindenwood. Krieger followed quickly with her fifth of the day, putting the Lions ahead by four, 13-9. Jahkhah added one more with under a minute left as Lindenwood picked up the 14-9 win. Â Sweeney finished with a career-high 16 saves in net.
