EAST MEADOW, N.Y. – On Friday, men's ice hockey took on LIU in game two of the series versus the Sharks. Lindenwood would fall 3-2 to the Sharks, after trying to mount a comeback in the second and third period. After the contest, Lindenwood would fall to 6-20-2 on the season and LIU would improve to 15-11-2.
GAME OVERVIEW
LIU would net the first goal of the game, scoring 6:45 into the first period, finding the back of the net on a pass that hit a Lindenwood defender's skate. Lindenwood would end the period trailing the Sharks 1-0. In the frame, the Lions would find five shots on net.
Owen Bartoszkiewicz stopped eight shots in net for the Lions in the frame.
In the second period, LIU would find the back of the net for the second time on the night at the 6:52 mark of the period. LIU's second goal of the night came off a turnover inside Lindenwood's defensive zone. The Sharks would notch their third goal of the night in the second period, with 2:59 left in the frame, finding the back of the net off a rebound. Lindenwood would not back down, scoring just 52 seconds later.
Jake Southgate would be credited the goal, after collecting a rebound and scoring off a shot from the right wing. Southgate's fourth goal of the season would be assisted by

Ty Hipkin. Lindenwood would trail 3-1 at the end of the period. In the frame, Lindenwood put eight shots on net. Bartoszkiewicz would stop 18 shots.
In the third period,
Patrick Schmiedlin would cut the Shark's lead in half at 9:41 into the frame, scoring from the low slot to score Lindenwood's second goal of the contest. Schmiedlin's third goal of the season would be assisted by
John Evans and
Mitch Allard. The Lions would have a chance to tie the contest up at 3-3 in the closing seconds of the game but would be stopped by LIU's netminder. In the frame, Lindenwood had ten shots on net. Bartoszkiewicz stopped three shots.
On the night, Lindenwood found 23 shots on target. Bartoszkiewicz stopped 29 shots on the night.
