Women's Lacrosse Extends Win Streak to Five With Victory Over Butler

The Lindenwood women's lacrosse team (7-1) extended its win streak to five after defeating Butler (0-6), 14-8 on Sunday afternoon from Hunter Stadium.

GAME OVERVIEW
After an early goal from Butler, Luci Selander tied things up at one at the 10:47 mark of the opening quarter. The Lions took the lead three minutes later with a goal from Isabella Rulapaugh, putting the Black and Gold up 2-1. Butler tied the game at two with just over five minutes to go in the quarter, but Rulapaugh put Lindenwood back in front with her second of the day, making the score 3-2 as the Lions led by one after 15 minutes.

Buter scored first in the second quarter, tying the game at three and took the lead shortly after with another goal at the 9:47 mark. The Lions responded with the next three goals of the game, with one coming from Ryleigh Cavanaugh and two from Selander, putting the Black and Gold up 6-4. The Bulldogs added a late goal before the half to trail 6-5 at the break.

The Bulldogs netted the first two goals of the second half to grab a 7-6 lead. Selander stopped the run, assisted by Alissa DiGiacinto, tying the game at 7-7 with 10:03 to go in the quarter. Less than a minute later Sarah Jardine put the Lions back in front off a feed from Selander. The Lions extended the lead to 9-7 at 6:29 when Rualapaugh finished off her hat trick, assisted by DiGiacinto. Breylin Bright found the back of the net late in the third to put Lindenwood ahead 10-7 after three.

DiGiacinto opened the scoring in the fourth, putting Lindenwood up 11-7. After a goal from Butler, the Lions scored the next three, coming from Reese Krieger, Jardine, and Rulapaugh, extending the lead to 14-8, which would be the final score on Sunday.
